As a young mother of three, there were many Mother's Days when I couldn't wait until our children were old enough to appreciate their parents! A true Mothers Day has finally arrived for me - and it was well worth the wait! It's not until our children become parents themselves that they realize the work that goes into raising children - then the appreciation of their own Mother and Father follows soon afterward!
As parents, livin' on the flip side of 50, we don't have as much need for appreciation from our children as we did when there weren't enough daylight hours to complete what was required of us! On the flip side of 50, there's a little more understanding and empathy toward them, and leisure time to appreciate your offspring for what they are to you. Mothers Day then becomes a day to bless them instead of waiting for their appreciation!
